Working under the art moniker j. Elise Diaz, Jackie Diaz creates from a practice shaped by care, curiosity, faith, and a lifelong conversation with materials.
Jackie is a mixed-media artist, nurse, and community educator. As an independent freelance artist since 1981, she has shared art products with private and community programs throughout San Diego County.
Her work often begins with the open-ended possibilities of ink, paint, paper, and found objects. The result is never only about the material, it is about the story it carries forward.
She has worked with students of all ages for more than 20 years, with a focus on self-care and personal expression. That same spirit of attention runs through the work in her studio.

In “The Wave Runner,” Chinese ink, isopropyl alcohol, gesso, and acrylic came together to suggest powerful waves. Each piece follows its own path.
